Job Description:
The Chief Accountant will manage daily hotel accounting operations, oversee month-end ledger closing procedures, drive financial forecasting and budgeting, maintain strict internal financial controls, supervise accounting staff, and partner with senior property management to maintain financial performance standards.
🔹 Key Responsibilities:
- Direct daily hotel accounting activities, general ledger maintenance, and financial record-keeping operations.
- Manage month-end and year-end financial closing processes, balance sheet reconciliations, and trial balance audits.
- Oversee annual budgeting, operational re-forecasting, cash flow management, and monthly profit & loss analysis.
- Ensure complete compliance with UAE accounting standards, FTA tax regulations, and internal hotel financial controls.
- Review and approve financial statements, audit schedules, payroll entries, and vendor payment distributions.
- Lead, mentor, and supervise finance team members, optimizing daily operational workflows and accounting accuracy.
- Provide financial analysis, variance reporting, and strategic business advice to the Director of Finance and General Manager.
- Ensure proper utilization of hospitality accounting software, PMS interfaces, POS integrations, and inventory platforms.
🔹 Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field; professional certification (CPA, ACCA, CMA) is preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with proven leadership in a 5-star hotel environment in the UAE.
- In-depth expertise in hospitality financial reporting, Uniform System of Accounts for the Lodging Industry (USALI), and hotel software.
- Prior experience with Marriott accounting systems, policies, and financial reporting standards is a strong advantage.
- Comprehensive knowledge of UAE VAT, Corporate Tax regulations, and statutory hotel accounting compliance requirements.
- Strong leadership, team management, analytical, and professional communication capabilities.
