Bring structure to your job search

A job search becomes easier to manage when you can see what you have already done and what needs attention next.

Keep one reliable list

Use a spreadsheet, notebook or tool you already know. Record the job title, company, original job link, deadline, application date and the actual method you used.

Separate application from outcome

Opening an employer website is not proof that an application was submitted. Mark an opportunity as applied only after you have completed the employer’s process or sent the intended message yourself.

Make follow-ups intentional

  • Keep a note of any timing instructions given by the employer.
  • Avoid repeated messages to multiple contacts about the same application.
  • Record responses and the next action clearly.
  • Close expired opportunities instead of leaving them on your active list.

Review your week

Look at which roles matched your experience, how many complete applications you made and what can improve. Quality and relevance matter more than sending the same CV everywhere.

A simple personal tracker is enough to start. Buying a toolkit is optional and never a requirement for applying.
